On this Sunday’s Words and Music Extra we’ve been at a rowathon to mark World Diabetes Day. We speak to the organisers and try to catch a word with some of the rowers who were jointly attempting to row the equivalent distance of the length of the Grand Union Canal from Birmingham to London! Also on the show, another chance to hear our report on the new Pets in Hospital scheme. Join us for chat and tunes at 12 on bhbn.net

Words & Music Extra
Midday on Sunday

Presented by Philippa Clarkin and
Edited by Dave Horton

Sundays at Noon

Philippa Clarkin
joined BHBN in December 2017

Just look at her CV!

Philippa gets to go out and about to meet interesting people and find out what they’re up to!

Philippa is a full time Mum to toddler twins, however before they came along she had a busy career in broadcasting and communications.

She started reading the news on Manchester’s Key 103 as well as covering breaking news and sport stories.  From there she moved in to television where she spent ten years working as a reporter and presenter for ITV.  She then became a communications adviser to government Ministers at the Energy and Climate Change department before moving to the consumer organisation Which?.

Over the course of her career, Philippa has interviewed some famous faces and big names including former US Vice President Al Gore, former Prime Ministers Tony Blair and John Major and three of the Spice Girls (Posh and Scary have eluded her…so far!).

Her claim to fame is that she was once in a pantomime with the singer Sam Smith!
