NHS HERO’S

By, Alicia
ICU Nurse at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham

We are called hero’s.

We are thanked by your claps

We are given gifts;

And we are thankful of that!

We are called hero’s

But us hero’s cry

When we’re struggling

with the pressures

And when our patients die

We are called hero’s,

But it doesn’t feel right,

To take a title of a hero

When you can’t sleep at night

We are called hero’s,

On the ITU frontline,

From the domestics to the consultants,

All of us shine

You are also the hero’s,

You have stacked up the shelves,

You have looked after

your neighbours,

And cared for yourselves

You are also the hero’s,

You have worked from your home

And followed the instruction

to isolate alone

You are all the hero’s,

You’ve gave us love

all the way through,

And I promise without your love,

Then we couldn’t do what we do!

Alicia’s poem can be heard on BHBN Radio from time to time and is accompanied by a Song that has been recorded by Julius Cowdrey call Frontline written with his brother Fabien and is available on Spotify, You Tube and other platforms with all proceeds going to the NHS Charities
