MEDIA LIBRARIAN
URGENTLY REQUIRED

We are currently looking for a volunteer to re-catalogue and maintain our current
Vinyl & CD Library.  With the introduction of computer playout systems our library has unfortunately been neglected.  As we pride ourselves in playing requests for our patients no matter what format it has been recorded on, we would like to bring our
library & filing system up to date.

Do you want to get involved?

We are always looking to strengthen our team with new talent.

However, Birmingham’s BHBN operates a selective system of volunteer recruitment. We do this to ensure that we maintain our high standards of patient contact and broadcasting both now and into the future.

We do not ‘take people off the street’ and simply put them on air! We look for those who can make a meaningful contribution to our work over a reasonable period of time in our selection process.

This means that if you want to join us you have to demonstrate the potential for developing the basic competencies and commitment needed to be a volunteer at Birmingham’s BHBN.

What kinds of jobs are available?

Not only are we looking for broadcasting staff, but people who are prepared to do Production work, Administration, Publicity, I.T. and Odd Jobs.

WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR REQUEST COLLECTORS AND/OR PRESENTERS THAT ARE PREPARED TO VISIT THE HEARTLANDS AND
GOOD HOPE (SUTTON COLDFIELD) HOSPITALS

AS A VOLUNTARY ORGANISATION NO ONE IS PAID AT BIRMINGHAM’S BHBN!

So can I apply?

To be considered for an audition and interview you must:

  • Be a minimum of 16 years old
  • Of good character with no criminal convictions – a police check may be carried out
  • Demonstrate potential for, and commitment to, hospital broadcasting
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team
  • Live in, or within a reasonable distance of, the City of Birmingham
  • Complete the application form

How do I apply?

To apply to join us you must complete an application form, which may be downloading from the link below and forwarding to the address at the top of this page for attention of the  Recruitment Officer, or call us  on 0121 554 5522 leaving your name and address.

The recruitment panel will consider the application and decide if you are to be invited to an interview and audition.

If you are invited to interview and audition and are accepted into probationary membership, you progress onto our training course and appropriate duties at the Network.

We are only looking for volunteers who wish to have a long term interest in the station and age is certainly not an issue, provided you are over 16.
